Frequently Asked Questions About our Regional Sports Program
Anyone that has a passion for sport, fitness, and recreation is encouraged to apply! This can take many forms:
- athletes,
- sports journalists,
- sports photographers,
- sports physicians,
- physiotherapists,
- event planners/coordinators,
- coaches,
- managers,
- and trainers are all examples of pathways to explore within the Regional Sports Program.
Elite athletes are always welcome but are not the main focus of our program.
We do not have an official High Performer’s Program, but we do work with students’ unique and specific training demands. Contact the guidance department for more information.
Dufferin-Peel is an open access school board, and we welcome all students of all faith backgrounds.
You are required to take a physical education credit in each year. This means that by graduation four of your thirty required credits for an OSSD will be Regional Sports Credits. Our Regional Sports students transition into our highly successful Sports SHSM program for grades 11 and 12. You will still have room for electives as you move through your high school career as a student.
No, we do not. The Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board does not provide bus transportation to any regional program.
As a Regional Sports Program student you are expected to be involved in promoting fitness, recreation, and sport in the school and in the community. We encourage all Regional Sports Students to get involved in the school community through extra curricular games and clubs.
Program fees are in place to subsidize curricular content. Field trips, certifications, guest speakers, transportation, and apparel are all included in program fees. There is an annual $200 program fee in order to participate in this program. There is no application fee.
If you decide to leave the program, you will be re-directed to your home school at the conclusion of the semester/year.
